FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what authors most often want to know.

General

Who is savaara for?

For entrepreneurs and experts who want to publish their knowledge as a book and bring material for it. The contracting party is always a company, including a sole trader, never a private individual. We do not take on academic work.

Is savaara a publisher?

No, savaara is an agency and not a traditional publisher. We do not place books with publishers either. With Author, you publish the book yourself unless you book the add-on “Publishing with savaara”. With Expert and Authority, your book is published in the savaara imprint.

Is this ghostwriting?

With Expert and Authority, yes: we write with you or for you from your material. Your name is on the cover, and savaara does not appear as the author. With Author, you write the book yourself.

Where will my book be available?

In the savaara imprint, we register your book with an ISBN in the VLB (German Books in Print). Bookshops in Germany and Austria can then order it. It usually also appears on Amazon, Thalia and other online shops. Whether the book wholesalers that supply bookshops stock your book, or a bookshop puts it on the shelf, is up to the trade.

We deliver the legal deposit copies to the Austrian National Library and the other libraries required by law, and for books in German one copy also goes to the German National Library. If you self-publish, listing and legal deposit copies are up to you.

Is there a free initial consultation?

No. The questionnaire is free of charge. If your enquiry is a good fit, you book the strategy session: 3 hours, online or in Vienna, €4,900 net plus VAT, credited in full if you commission your book.

Models

Which model is right for me?

You enjoy writing yourself: Author. You have plenty of material and little time: Expert. You have a great deal of material and do not want to write at all: Authority. If in doubt, choose “not decided yet” in the questionnaire.

What do I need to deliver?

All your material, for example texts, recordings, talks or documents. We work only with the material you provide: no research, no additional interviews and no new recordings, except for the audiobook and online course if they are part of your commission.

In which languages are the books created?

Books in German and English. Editing, proofreading and the final polish take place in the language of your book.

How do you use AI?

For organising, transcribing and checking, and with Expert and Authority also for first drafts. People are responsible for the concept, style and every approval. We only use AI once you have commissioned us. If a platform asks about it, we declare the AI share truthfully.

Concept and quality

What does concept approval mean?

You give binding approval to the title, core message and chapter structure. After that, the book is not fundamentally restructured. You can withdraw before concept approval. savaara then keeps 40% of the fee, which corresponds to the first milestone.

How many rounds of revisions are included?

One round of revisions with Author and Expert, two with Authority. With Author, you also receive feedback at two milestones. Rounds of revisions always cover the complete manuscript.

Rights and revenue

Who owns my book?

Once print approval is given and payment is complete, your book belongs to you. With Expert and Authority, you receive exclusive rights of use in our texts, unlimited in time and territory, insofar as they are protected by intellectual property rights. In the savaara imprint, savaara may only reproduce your book, sell it and advertise it. The details are set out in the contract.

How does the 70/30 profit share work?

In the savaara imprint, your print costs flow back to you first. Of the profit after that, you receive 70% and savaara 30%. If you self-publish, 100% of your revenue stays with you. Go to the calculator

Does a book pay off?

That depends on how you use it: to win new clients, for talks and in direct sales. The earnings calculator shows what reaches you per copy sold. How you sell and finance your book is what we plan in the strategy session.

Do fixed book prices also apply to pre-sales?

Yes, also in pre-sales and at events. Discounts are only possible within narrow legal limits. The price is set by whoever appears on the book’s copyright page: you if you self-publish, savaara in the savaara imprint.

Costs and duration

How much does it cost to have a book written?

The price depends on the model, the length and your material. We will give you your price in a binding quote after the strategy session. Add-ons cost extra. Print costs are never included.

How do I pay?

Via ablefy: payment in advance with a 5% discount, three milestones (40%, 30% and 30%) or up to 12 monthly instalments with a surcharge.

How long does it take to write a book?

From the complete delivery of your material: Author about 6 months, Expert about 6 to 8, Authority about 8 to 10. We take on four book projects per quarter.

How much time do I need to set aside?

About six hours of meetings: three hours for the strategy session, two hours for the kick-off and one hour for the concept review. On top of that come your material and your approvals, with Author your writing time, and with the online course the video recordings.
